Venice The Best Of Venice For Short Stay Travel Short Stay Travel City Guides Book 4 eBook Gary Jones

I visited Venice 7 years ago. The city has so many interesting attractions that I felt we did not come close to seeing them all. We are planning another trip and I purchased a couple of guides to get ideas of what we should do during this visit.

This guide starts with history (21% of the book), next comes overview of the city regions (6% of the content), the next section is mode of transportation (15% of the book) this includes a map of the city, the next chapter include several hotels in the heart of Venis (hotel chapter is short, it is 4% of the book). Note that we stayed in one of the outer regions which was cheaper and we enjoyed the ride on the water taxi twice a day as it gave us spectacular views.

The next chapter is Museums. it covers less famous museums (with the exception of Ducal Palace) that we have not visited on our first trip (15% of the book). The section that covers other attraction covers squares, palaces, and Bell Towers. It includes on-line maps. You can get these maps at the attractions but it is handy to look at them before hand to get the scale of place you are planning to visit. This chapter is is 10% of the book.

15% of the book is dedicated to restaurants. Venice has a huge number of great restaurants, this covers just a small percentage of them. Since the quality of the restaurants tend to change, I would rely more on recent reviews than a recommendation in a book published several years ago like this one (published in 2015). One thing I highly recommend is to try Venice square pizza. It is the best pizza I have ever had in my life and I have tried pizza in several US cities which claim to have the best! The next chapter covers boat rides (4%).

The final chapter is a three day itinerary. The suggested times for various attraction seemed a little tight to me, we definitely took longer in some of the museums on the list. The author says it is not possible to get lost in Venice because it is small, but we did get lost a number of times because all the streets are very twisty and GPS does not work very well in the narrow Venice streets. Be prepared to walk a lot! We actually enjoyed getting lost because we saw things we did not plan on.

For a first time traveler this book is okay, I was hoping to find some hidden gems that I have not seen before and I got one or two ideas but not as many as I hoped. I bought several guides in preparation to my trip and I thought "Venice" by Wynn gave me the largest amount of practical information.

We purchased this book to plan our trip this summer - I thought I could do it myself, but I quickly felt overwhelmed because I wanted to experience the most in the shortest amount of time.

It starts off with the history of Venice, was was fascinating and got me even more enthusiastic about the trip. It's a realistic manual, actually informing me that we WILL get lost, because Venice is a maze, so expect it and embrace it.

Then there's an overview of the different segments, which I knew nothing about, and it was very helpful information. There's also an overview of what's of particular interest in each one.
Very helpful as a quick guide to the main attractions in Venice. The embedded links are a great and helpful idea. The transportation chapter and quick history were exactly what I needed in preparing my first trip to Venice.
Wonderful little book! If you're looking for an easy to read and understand guide to Venice then this is the book for you. It goes over the history of Venice and how it came to be what it is to day. It also gives a general description of the city as well. There are dozens and dozens of attractions the author goes over in this book. His 3 day itinerary is very beneficial to plan your trip in advance. I was please to see the author included a description of the night life in Venice. I find when traveling this is a great way to absorb myself in the culture of a city.
For many people traveling to Venice is a dream come true. Venice Travel Guide is a great book that lays out crucial information you need to know before arriving in Vanice.

The book is laid out in nine chapters. Chapter 1 and 2 provides an introduction and historical background on Vanice while chapters 3 &4 provides specifics about the city’s establishment and geographic information.Chapters 5, 6 and 7 discusses transportation, safety, museums and other attractions of the city.

Chapters 8 and 9 include information on variety of restaurants, nightlife and a sample 3-day itinerary. The instructions and information in the book are concise but clear. For example; in the chapter regarding museums there is brief intro, timing, address and phone numbers. Overall, good guide.
This was an easy read book that gave me the tips I needed for my very short 2 day stay at Venice and make the best of that time. I was able to find a very nice and very reasonably priced restaurant and some amazing sites that you wouldn't usually see as a tourist. I would suggest this Book to anyone going to Venice on a long or short stay. I'll definitely be using it as a reference when I return.
I chose this rating because this book is quite succinct. I know Venice fairly well and it is a well compartmentalized book. Most exciting is the instant access to websites so that you could be walking in Venice and find your way… If you wanted to!😊... even with the help this time, I do plan to get lost again in Venice. Even that is recommended in this small but wonderful book! I look forward to reading the Vienna and the Budapest editions as well.
I have always wanted to go to Venice. This book has some great information--including the best times to visit. This book covers the history of Venice, what the buildings themselves stand for, and how the city came into being. This book will help you find your way around the city and will make sure you see and enjoy the spellbinding sights and buildings. This book gives the reader a fascinating viewpoint of Venice and has a lot of vital information to keep in mind especially when it is your first visit to Venice.
